What tools are needed when unfolding and folding expandable container houses?
2026-02-05 04:26:19

Expandable container houses can be unfolded and folded without the need for specialized heavy-duty tools;only a few basic hand tools are required.Hydraulic automatic models require even fewer tools(driven by a hydraulic system),while manual mechanical models will require 1-2 additional auxiliary tools. All tools are standard models, easy to carry and operate, and some core tools are included with the house by the manufacturer. The following descriptions are divided into three categories:general essential tools, hydraulic model-specific tools, and manual model-specific tools, with the core purpose of each tool clearly indicated:
I.General Essential Tools(Required for both hydraulic and manual models, applicable throughout unfolding and folding)
Adjustable wrench/Open-end wrench(1-2 pieces,10-14mm)
Core uses:Adjusting and tightening the locking nuts of the support legs and the bolts securing the frame;leveling the container;disassembling/installing the fixing clips at joints;compatible with most metal fasteners.
Slotted/Phillips screwdriver(1 each,standard size)
Core uses:Unscrewing the fixing screws of the storage latches and the pressure strip screws of the sealing strip;disassembling small limiting components;handling small parts with localized fixation.Rubber mallet(1 piece)
Core purpose:Gently tap misaligned movable panels and frame rails to help them return to their proper place(avoid hard hammering that could cause paint peeling or component deformation);press the sealing strip to ensure a tight seal.
Small pry bar/plastic pry tool(1 piece)
Core purpose:Assist in dislodging jammed lock pins and limit blocks,or pry up slightly raised raised floor panels/side panels(plastic pry tool prevents scratching the panel surface).
Cleaning tools(brush+cloth,1 set each)
Core purpose:Clean mud, debris, and rust from rails, hinges, and locking components before and after operation to prevent jamming;wipe hydraulic joints and oil pipes(hydraulic type)to prevent oil buildup.
Rust-preventive lubricant+oil can(1 set)
Core purpose:Apply rust-preventive lubricant to rails, hinges, and lock pins after operation.Manufacturers usually provide a special version with the room,so no additional purchase is needed.
II.Tools for the Hydraulic Automatic Model(Only a few auxiliary tools required,no driving tools)
The core of the hydraulic model relies on itsintegrated hydraulic system(electric/diesel)to complete the frame extension/retraction,requiring no manual assistance.Tools are only used for assisting with leveling, unlocking, and handling minor issues. In addition to the general tools, only the following are required:
Charging cable/emergency jump starter(electric hydraulic model):A spare tool to prevent the hydraulic pump from running out of power and becoming inoperable. The manufacturer will provide an original charging cable.
Diesel refueling container(diesel hydraulic model):Used only to refuel the diesel engine of the hydraulic pump.A standard small-capacity container is sufficient.
Note:The hydraulic control box and operating lever of the hydraulic model are integrated components of the equipment and are not considered additional tools. They can be used directly after unpacking.
III.Manual/Mechanical Model Dedicated Tools(Core Addition of Drive/Assist Tools,Included by Manufacturer)
The manual model lacks a hydraulic system and requires a mechanical structure to drive the frame.Core tools are included with the house by the manufacturer and do not need to be purchased separately. In addition to the general tools, the dedicated tools are:
Hand Crank(1-2 pieces,original manufacturer included)
Core Use:The core drive tool for the manual model, directly connected to the frame's telescopic gearbox.Cranking the crank extends/retracts the frame. Some manufacturers provide extended cranks for easier and less strenuous operation.
Assist Crowbar(1 piece,optional)
Core Use:Assists in applying force when encountering slight resistance during frame retraction/extension(light prying only,do not forcefully pry).Suitable for larger manual models(20-foot dual-sided).
Additional Information:Spare Tools for Two Special Cases(Not Essential,Prepare as Needed)
Level(Small Portable, such as Laser Level/Bubble Level):Not essential, but useful for precise leveling of the enclosure.Ideal for scenarios requiring a highly level surface.
Spare Locking Pins/Clips(Several):Provided by the manufacturer. These are consumable parts, not tools. If a locking pin is found to be bent during operation,it can be replaced directly to prevent jamming.
Key Summary
Hydraulic Automatic Model:Requires only the standard 6-category tools.Driven entirely by a hydraulic system, the tools are only used for leveling, unlocking, and cleaning, offering the most convenient operation.
Manual Mechanical Model:In addition to the standard tools, only the manufacturer-supplied hand crank is needed;no other driving tools are required.
All tools are small and manual, and can be stored in a tool bag. With 2-3 people working together, one person can carry the tools for the entire operation. The tools can be unfolded/folded and stored directly in the enclosure's storage compartment for easy access later.
